[About Redbird Books to Prisoners]

Redbird Books to Prisoners is a 100% non-profit, all volunteer run project that sends educational and recreational reading material free to prisoners.

We are in support of the belief that rehabilitation comes from knowledge and that prisoners are greatly denied this right. So while millions of books go without use here in America we collect them and distribute them free of charge.

This project runs as a collective where everyone has an equal say in how this project works. As of right now we need volunteers to help write letters, package books, help organize the space, etc.

Redbird Books is run out of the basement of Ujamaa Bookstore on 5th and High. We meet Tuesdays from 1-4 Thursdays from 1-5 and Fridays from 2-whenever. We can also always use monetary donations, packing supplies, books, packing tape, and whatever else you feel could benefit those incarcerated. For more information, e-mail redbirdbooksatgmaildotcom.

Proceeds from this benefit will be used to pay for postage and supplies to send books to prisoners.
