Purple 7 has been doing some extensive basement practice sessions, and as much as we love it down there, we might go crazy if we don’t hit the road soon. So that’s exactly what we’re going to do, hit the road, try and play every night, and end up at the ocean. We’re really excited about our new songs and about playing them for a couple weeks straight. Check it out, here we have a video for the song “Poison Ivy,” the first song on our first record that’s getting released Oct. 4th on Let’s Pretend Records. Many thanks to Eric Ayotte, he did all the camerawork and editing on this sucker. We worked together on the “I’m Against the Government” video and it went so smoothly and turned out so well that I roped him into doing another. Check out his other videos, too. We leave on tour next Friday (our tour dates are posted over there to the right) so come out and see us if we’re in your town. Hope you dig scenic downtown Bloomington in the midwestern fall evening lighting ….

The Purple 7 is a band that features Will from DEFIANCE, OH/LANDLORD, Chris Mott from LANDLORD, and Patrick Jennings from the HOT NEW MEXICANS. Conceived in Chris’s attic and Will’s basement at MAGNETIC SOUTH on several experimental 4 track sessions while on leave from Landlord, the band has taken on new dimensions since Patrick arrived in town and set up shop in a suburban style studio on the south side of Bloomington. We were destined, it seems, to be in a band together. Our first 5 song record (one sided 12″ 45 rpm on marbled purple & black vinyl with an engraving on the back) will be available from Let’s Pretend records (www.letspretendrecords.com) on October 4th and to celebrate we are setting out on our debutante midwestern tour. (we will post a link) However, the whole mess with our work permits being denied for our 2012 European tour (see below) left us in debt for quite a lot of money. First the bad news..

Our work permits to the UK were denied and the European tour is canceled. We are very sorry that this happened and we want to thank everyone that put work into trying to make it come together. We are hoping to reschedule in 2013 but have no set plans as of now. It’s a bummer, we were very excited to make it back over.

We have scrambled together a short east coast/midwest tour from August 29th to September 7th. The dates are posted. Thanks so much to all the folks that helped us pull this tour from thin air. Please help us spread the word as the shows are soon!

It’s been 10 years. Thanks so much for everything. The last song we are releasing for the month is a re-recording of the first song we ever wrote together. We thought it would be cool to see how it sounded 10 years later. haha.. maybe not all that different.

*This song is about reconsidering the way we view our own lives and (hopefully) using that consideration to view the rest of the world with a more open mind.
